Catawba River Park and Canoe Launch

Catawba River Park and Canoe/Kayak Launch is located within one quarter mile of the intersection of Highway 70 West and Resistoflex Road.  This is a picturesque park setting with picnic tables and paved canoe/kayak launch area.  From this point, the Catawba River flows east towards Lake James.  

You may choose to "take out" at Marion's Joseph McDowell Greenway, public parking area is available from dusk to dawn, or float further to River Breeze Campground or continue until the Catawba River meets Lake James.  At this point, paddle left towards Burnette Landing.  You may park a car here for $3.00, subject to change.  Call 828-652-3531 to reach Burnette's Landing to confirm parking privileges.  Paddle beyond Burnette's landing to Black Bear Boat Access and public parking is free of charge.

The Catawba River, between the the park and Lake James, rises and falls according to the season and amount of rainfall each year.  Please check weather reports for conditions.  

Directions:  I-40 to Exit 73/Old Fort, north on Catawba Avenue to intersection of Highway 70/Main Street.  Turn right onto Hwy. 70, traveling east.  After stoplight/intersection at Highway 80/Lake Tahoma Road, turn left onto Resistoflex Road.  At end of road/stop sign, turn left onto Old Greenlee Road.  Travel approximately .2 mile, entrance is on the left.
