Wow! April is ushering in warmer weather, blooming trees and flowers and one of the year's most exciting trail races. Old Fort's Camp Grier, through their adventure "arm" Tanawha Adventures, is the beginning and end point for the first Annual Hellbender 100. This foot race takes you across 100 miles of Pisgah National Forest with breathtaking views and challenges. This one is for experienced runners, only. For the rest of us, make plans to attend the 3rd Carolina Donut Festival on April 21st in downtown Marion and the 34th Annual Pioneer Day on April 28th, hosted by Old Fort's Mountain Gateway Museum. This fun event features Appalachian culture and history with on-site demonstrations, local craft vendors, food and live music. Admission is FREE!
