The McDowell County Tourism Master Plan, Destination McDowell, is a 15-year roadmap to ensure the tourism authority effectively stewards its capital infrastructure program through strategic decision-making and investments.
The planning process identified various ways to improve the visitor experience and build on existing tourism assets. After a year of consulting local businesses, local government, county residents, and tourism partners, new or expanded public venues, trail systems, and more have been identified and are a part of the plan.
The final 15-year tourism infrastructure master plan features all recommendations, a phasing schedule, an estimate of probable cost, and an outline of grant funding sources. The plan is available here. As work progresses, updates will be made.
