Juneteenth Freedom Festival 2024
West Marion Community Forum Inc. will host the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Freedom Festival June 19- June 23, 2024. This is a live event featuring various activities, speakers, and performances.
The event’s primary goal is to share an appreciation of African American culture, heritage, and, most importantly, abolishment of slavery. It is a place for all races, nationalities, and religions to join hands and truthfully acknowledge a period in history that shaped and continues to influence our society today.
Wednesday June 19 - Juneteenth Pageant, 5:30p.m. at Old Fort Elementary School.
Thursday, June 20 - Family Fun Night, 8:00p.m. at Spillway Bridge & Co. located at 93 S. Main St. Marion, NC
Friday, June 21-Family Funday, 10a.m.-3p.m. Paddy's Creek, 2229 Lake James State Park Road, Nebo, NC
Saturday, June 22 - Festival, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at 201 Ridley St. in Marion, NC
Sunday, June 23 -Community Worship service 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at 201 Ridley Street in Marion, NC.
Transportation: Friday, pickup at YMCA transport to Paddy's Creek, Lake James, 8:30 and 11:30 a.m.; return Paddy's Creek to YMCA, 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.; Saturday, McDowell Transit picks up at the YMCA to West Marion Park beginning at 9 a.m. All transportation is free.
