There is no better way to start off a new year than with a hike! Unfortunately, as with most things COVID-related, 2021 will not begin with a guided hike. So, MAKE YOUR OWN! With over 67,000 acres of Pisgah National Forest surrounding our small towns, you'll find lots of trails to explore.
Click on the "Play" icon to see a list of area hiking and waterfall trails. Beginners, consider Tom's Creek Falls. This one is an easy, well maintained two-mile loop with benches along the way. The trail follows Tom's Creek and opens to a handicap overlook.
Off the beaten path, literally, is a favorite that's often used. Newberry Creek Trail is an easy to moderate trail, about 5 miles, meandering through the forest. If you take it to the top, you'll be at the Blue Ridge Parkway. This former U.S. Forest Service road is a joy to walk and easy to find.
Happy New Year!
