Spend Summer Here!

Create your base camp in Old Fort, Marion, Little Switzerland, Lake James, or the Linville Falls area to trek or bike our Pisgah Backcountry Trails.  The Pisgah National Forest spreads throughout western North Carolina with close to 70,000 acres and hundreds of trail miles right here in our backyard. Trail conditions for mountain bikes are exhilarating, with plenty of roots, rocks, and creeks to challenge your downhill skills.

Explore the area's state parks.  There are five (5) locations within an hour of downtown Marion.  Begin at Lake James State Park's Catawba Area and the larger Paddy's Creek Area to enjoy the swimming beach or to rent canoes and kayaks. Grandfather Mountain, South Mountains, Mt. Mitchell, Chimney Rock, and Lake James State Parks are open year round.

If you're looking for guided adventures, call The Catawba Angler, Catawba River Outdoors, or Thrifty Adventures.  You'll find contact details under the "PLAY" icon.
